Take Abra to cross Dubai Creek. Dubai Creek’s significance can be traced back to 1902, all custom duties on imports are abolished by HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Hasher,the ruler of Dubai. This makes Dubai the center of a free trade zone.Among all the commercial activities, fish and pearl trading are most important.

Until the construction of Al Maktoum Bridge in 1963, the only way to get from one side of the creek to the other was a long journey by land around the waterway, or a ride in an abra(small ferry) with manpower oar. Nowadayz, oar has been replaced by motors, abra is still a good choice to do the ferry and enjoy the view of Dubai Creek.
